ABOUT AIDAN BROWN

Aidan is a published & experienced behavioural scientist, with specialisations in social science, management, business economics, and the political environment. He has spent a lifetime gaining experience in a variety of critical areas, that has not only shaped the person he has become in the process, but allowed him to build particular capacities for helping people achieve their goals.

This includes enjoying successs as an endurance athlete in several disciplines, and in combat sports. He is also a Springbok Scout and recipient of the National Bushmans Award Merit. In addition, Aidan has broad experience in business and strategy advisory roles across corporate, NGO, SMME’s and the governmental sector, with a special interest in public discourse.

In addition to his personal journey, a key focus area has also been working within, and leading teams to achieve more. This has led him to be selective in the associates he works with, who are all selected based on their unique insights and track record of high performance in at least one major area.

Aidan spent his early years participating in various sports, but found that he especially excelled in the cycling world. This led him to leave formal education to pursue a professional career in high school, while he completed his O-levels & A-levels.

In addition to competing in various cycling events, he also worked in the industry – assisting in, then managing bicycle shops all over the country. He then began managing imports for an international cycling brand, a chapter that also saw him take on a development and support role in managing numerous athletes, including Team MTN Qubeka, as well as top professional cricket players.

In 2012, he decided to pursue his tertiary studies, heading to Rhodes University to study social and business sciences, including politics, economics, and management. He also went on to complete his Honours degree in political science. During his time at Rhodes, Aidan shifted his focus to Mixed Martial Arts, which he had become interested in a couple of years prior.

Aidan was a key role player in rejuvenating and optimising the newly incorporated RU MMA club, which saw the club grow to the biggest in the university within a few years, and his roles during this time included both administration, and liaising with various stakeholders within the university and MMA communities, and also serving as the head coach during his tenure there - whilst facilitating club engagements with some of the top fighters in the country, and even the world, through his network.

In addition to this, he also focused on Boxing as a sport, developing young athletes in this field, not only within the student community, but in the surrounding townships as well. He managed to leverage the club’s influence to engage in food drives for local animal shelters, and further enhance the impact of the work done.

After completing his studies, he spent about a year fighting professionally through one of South African’s top MMA coaches and managers, Chris Bright, in Port Elizabeth. During this time, he especially developed his skills within Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and continued to coach during this time as well.

Aidan then refocused his goals within the academic arena, as he was accepted into the prestigious Gordon Institute of Business Science, to complete a Post-graduate Diploma in Management, followed by a Master of Business Administration the following year. During this time, he enhanced his knowledge and skills, in several critical areas of business consultancy and performance, and was able to engage with a variety of interesting people, from various perspectives. He graduated from GIBS in 2022.

In 2023, he worked within the IT industry, performing various duties for 2 international companies, during a 1-year contract, after which he opted to focus on doing what he loves and has always been good at: Working with, and developing people and businesses, to optimise their potential and performance.

He continued to train under Neil Geyser, and with some of the top MMA practitioners and professional fighters, in South Africa, and internationally. During this time. he was also coaching people at various levels in the sports, and was awarded his Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which is a rare and exceptional achievement.

When Aidan is not helping someone grow and realise their potential, he spends his time engaging with various intellectuals and ideas, covering various topics from global and local history, politics, and economic developments, and well as key theories that pertain to the work he does.

In addition to consuming a lot of information, he also produces several podcasts, focused on delivering high-quality, well-researched information from experts, through his company ‘Black & Brown Productions’ which he founded in 2023 with his childhood best friend. He also continues to participate in MMA, and ultra-endurance events, and prioritises spending time with his two dogs and family.

He has overcome various personal and professional challenges along the way, and through all his experiences, has developed many competencies that allow him to deliver high-quality services, both in terms of the coaching programmes he offers, and the content he produces. He has a high level of emotional intelligence, and empathy, and has developed the ability to connect with people from all backgrounds. This also sometimes means speaking truth to power, which he has also managed to do on several occasions.

Aidan is well-rounded, honest, and direct - having dealt with various curve balls, both on and off the sports fields he has occupied. He draws on a broad range of knowledge and skills, as well as a truly impressive network, including top professionals and even household names, in order to help solve the problems that stand in the way of people becoming who they are capable of, and meant to be.
